JI Case Agricultural & Construction Equipment 1956-1994 Volume Two

cover photo

The memories of the large steam engines had faded in the 1950's as the agricultural world began experiencing dramatic changes. World War II was over, agricultural production was at full capacity, and farmers were facing surpluses for the first time. These were times unlike any other.

This story begins in the middle of that memorable decade - 1956 - and picks up where the first volume, Full Steam Ahead J.I. Case Tractors & Equipment, left off. The J.I. Case company was busy researching ways to meet farmers needs. The challenge was to find more efficient farming methods.

JI Case Agricultural & Construction Equipment 1956-1994, Volume Two, follows Case through the past four decades - decades filled with challenges and changes for the agricultural community. Authors Tom Stonehouse and Eldon Brumbaugh offer this insider's account which passes through each era and adresses the different issues which influenced the design and manufacture of equipment.

Find out why the focus shifted to the larger tractors; what influenced the design and manufacture of construction equipment at Case in the 1970's; how the acquisition of International Harvester in 1985 impacted the Case Line; and how Case went full circle to become one of the leading full-line agricultural manufacturers in the 1990's.

Hundreds if photos are used along with engaging text to tell this story of America's greatest agricultural companies. Nowhere before has this tale been told so thoroughly. From the 400 Series tractors to the Maxxums, from balers to disk harrows, and from Uni-Loaders to excavators, this book tells the rest of the Case story.

JI Case Agricultural and Construction Equipment contains 216 pages and over 500 photographs, inluding over 250 in full colour. The collector will be especially intrigued with the appendix which contains serial numbers, production numbers for the Rock Island and Racine plants, and Nebraska Tractor Test results. This is a hardbound 8.5"x11".
