The greatly anticipated sequel to the best-seller, Two Thousand Mile Harvest
In 2005, ten years after he produced the best-selling programme Two Thousand Mile Harvest, Dylan Winter followed two teams of harvesters as they made their way north through the grain belt.
Rick Farris from Edson, Kansas runs Case combines and Peterbilt trucks. Lance and Drew Frederick use John Deeres and Kenworth trucks. Both teams use seasonal labour from other countries as well as the United States. Before harvesting starts we see how these young men - show their workshop skills and learn to drive trucks and load combines. They go through rigorous safety testing.
Harvesting starts in south Oklahoma for both groups, but their fortunes are different. We see how the team deals with setbacks, including poor weather and difficult terrain. The different crops they encounter - wheat, barley, oiIseeds, corm and milo - make for some glorious harvesting scenes.
Dylan follows the John Deeres to north Dakota and the Case IH to Montana. His crisp interviews bring out the different characters of the two teams and what it is like to be involved in this exciting enterprise that none of the youngsters will ever forget
