The Holt Self-Propelled Harvester incorporated two of Benjamin Holt’s most important inventions, the Holt Combined Harvester and the Holt Caterpillar Tractor. Development started in 1911. In 1915, an improved Holt Self-Propelled Side-Hill Harvester powered by a “Caterpillar” track was exhibited at the Pan-Pacific Exhibition in San Francisco. Holt was awarded Expo Grand Prizes for their “Caterpillar Tractor” and for their “Caterpillar Harvester.” This was the World’s First Side-Hill, Self-Propelled Combined Harvester.
