In 1936 two great engineers, David Brown and Harry Ferguson, got together to commence the manufacture of tractors in a Yorkshire engineering factory. Their first effort, the Ferguson-Brown A type was a milestone in British agricultural history. Ferguson eventually went to join Henry Ford, but David Brown concentrated his efforts on the production of an all British Tractor. Commencing with the VAK1 in 1939, David Brown Tractors became market leaders in numerous aspects of farm machinery manufacture. From their rural factory at Meltham, the firm's products were exported all over the world. The remarkable story of the 30 years is told in this book, which is produced with the assistance of former senior David Brown Tractor Personnel. Using official photographs, this book presents a unique and authentic record of the company.
