David Brown tractors hold a special place in the affections of tractor enthusiasts. This outstanding new book presents a detailed, in-depth history of David Brown Tractors Ltd., and its parent company, David Brown Engineering, from the early connections with Ferguson right through to the red Case 94 series.
Originally a small company, David Brown Engineering was to become the largest gear manufacturer in the land, specialising in manufacturing sub assemblies for other manufacturers, with a tradition of skill, dedication and attention to detail.
In 1936 the first David Brown Tractor - the Ferguson Brown - was produced. Three years later, David Brown Tractors Ltd. was formed, producing the now-famous Hunting Pink tractors. Red and blue, red and yellow, white and chocolate, white and power red and finally red and black tractors followed.
Author Colin Holwell, one of the leading David Brown authorities of today, describes each of these lines with the aid of many superb colour photographs, some splendid archive material from the company's early days, and reproductions of sales brochures.
The book also includes David Brown implements, crawlers and the unconventional 2D, all Meltham-built products.
These all-British made tractors have truly become a British legend, and this book will be much appreciated by those who have worked with David Browns; as well as by collectors, restorers and tractor enthusiasts all over the world.
