Originally published in 1843, this illustrated title summarizes the developments of ploughs, thrashers, drills, milling machines and a wide range of horse-powered implements. The author was writing just after the engineering company in which he was a partner had won the Gold Award at the Oxford Royal Show for its chaff-cutting machines and scarifiers and just at the time when it was launching the YL plough. He reinforced his deep practical experience by research in the Patents Offices and elsewhere. The result was one of the most popular of 19th-century agricultural books.
