Best of the Tests Traction Engine Road Tests by Mike Dyson
cover photo
Which traction engine was the best?
Everyone has their preferences. Mike Dyson has driven many engines over the years and has carried our numerous 'road tests'. He does not give an opinion as to the 'best engine' but offers some interesting examples which he has found particularly fascinating. As Mike says, 'All traction engines are wonderful machines but some have more appeal than others. So much depends on how well they are maintained.' However, the reader might find a slight bias towards Garratt tractors. This is no surprise, as Mike owns one.
Mike writes for a number of traction engine magazines, more recently as a regular contributor to Old Glory.
