Well, we're up to Volume 4 now, and still the Machinery Mishaps pictures keep turning up at the profi editorial office. What does this mean? Are operators more prepared to share their embarrassing incidents with others? Are users suffering a larger number of accidents? Or is machienry becoming less reliable?
We suspect that none of these is the case. The reality, of course, is that, wherever and whenever farm equipment is worked, things will go wrong as a result of either mechanical or human failure. Thankfully, the vast majority of the incidents are relatively minor and don't involve long-term injury - the case with all of the pictures in this book - yet fatal accidents tragically do still happen. And that's where this book serious message comes to the fore: while we achnowledge that most of the featured items will cause a chuckle, we also hope that they might encourage operators to take a little more care of themselves. If this prevents injuries or worse in the future, then the book will have served an extremely worthwhile purpose.
