The Fruehauf Trailer Historical Society celebrates August Fruehauf's creation of the first Semi-Trailer in 1914. The Fruehauf Trailer Company was the General Motors of the transportation industry and the most dominant manufacturer of transportation products for nearly a century. August went from being a hard working german blacksmith in Detroit to the President of a million dollar international company at his death in 1930. To commemorate the centennial in 2014, we present a biographical essay on August Fruehauf and the history of the company he created. It includes 39 pages of history and 90 pages of photographs of their innovative designs and over 2,000 engineering inventions.
